Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.
Hours are published for 6 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–3 pm. It is closed on Monday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Jiayuan Dumpling House at (310) 792-6789; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE! I tried so many dishes and they were all incredible. Everything was made with care and fresh ingredients. We had the orange chicken, it was sweet and juicy, we had the walnut shrimp, it was decadent and savory, and even more. The dumplings are out of this world, next time I wanna get the chicken and mushroom. The service was so kind and personable, I will absolutely come back.

Best authentic Chinese food in South bay. Healthy options like eggplants or the wonton soup. Fresh dumplings and the sweet and sour chicken is my favorite. Friendly service

We love trying different dumpling restaurants so we came here to eat! The staff was very nice and attentive. Seems like a small family business. This place has only 8 tables so either you come on a good day when its empty which we did but it can get filled up quickly due to a large party or families. We ordered the cucumber salad appetizer...pan fried nappa pork dumplings and pork scallion buns.....and They had nooooo FLAVOR. The cucumber salad was diced to oblivion ..we might as well have gotten spoons instead of chopsticks....no spice just drenched in water and soy sauce....no garlic...no szechuan pepper oil. The dumpling and buns had no flavors....no ginger...no seasonings... my wife had to put SALT IN THE CUCUMBERS! ....yes!.... SALT!.... Parking was plenty...

How have I lived five years near this place and not stopped in? Great service. Like genuinely warm, attentive, happy-you’re-here kind of service. The food was delicious across the board. Dumplings were spot on and everything felt fresh and well made. If I had to nitpick, I’d love a spicy option for the cucumber salad. It’s good as is, but a little heat would take it up a notch. Safe to say we’ll be back. A lot sooner than five years this time.

A true gem. I love Asian food—especially dumplings—and this place didn’t just meet expectations, it delivered a full culinary experience. It’s a small, family-owned and family-run spot, and you can feel that care in every bite. The food is outstanding, and it’s easy to see why it’s quickly becoming so popular. I’ll definitely be coming back often.
